Class Description: Explore intuitive layering with paint, collage, and mark-making to create a unique abstract, nature-inspired painting. Through hands-on demonstrations with creative exploration, you’ll learn how mixed media elements and repeated design elements work together to build a cohesive composition. In this class, you’ll create an abstract mixed media painting and colour exploration pieces on paper. Participants are encouraged to follow their intuition, and the class is suitable for all skill levels. No drawing experience is required. The class has a relaxed, social atmosphere.
Instructor Bio: Sheri Peters is a Gibsons, BC–based abstract painter inspired by nature, creating layered, expressive work that values feeling over realism. Influenced by Gustav Klimt and Salvador Dali, she invites others to make art with curiosity and wonder. Sheri was featured on An Artist in The House (2022), won the Sunshine Coast Writers Society People’s Choice Award (2024), and has artwork in Not an Island and on the cover of Snippets in a Small Town.
