    • Class Title: Intro to Dotillism
Class Date: Sun, Oct 18, 2026 at 2pm

      Instructor Name(s): Jolene Hassard

Class Description: This class provides an introduction to pattern making with dots! Participants will learn the basics of pattern layout, what tools and paint work well for dot making, and techniques for making predictable, consistent sized dots – always important when making patterns with dots. Each participant will leave with a canvas panel painted with a brightly coloured, simple-to-learn floral design created from dots, which will hopefully create a basis of knowledge for future dot paintings.

Instructor Bio: Jolene Hassard is a visual artist who works with acrylic paint in the style of dotilism. The subject of each piece is honoured – a moment, a place, an animal – by creating an extremely intricate background with a colourful design created from thousands of dots with the subject contrasting in simple silhouette. Her experiences backpacking generally inspire her paintings and you will find that coastlines, animals, oceans and forests are common subjects of her pieces.
