Nanoose Bay artist Kelly Corbett. has joined the Bayside Oceanfront Resort as its new art curator. Corbett brings a thoughtful, distinctly West Coast artistic perspective to the role, shaped by her love of Vancouver Island’s landscapes, wildlife, and coastal beauty.
Known for her realistic acrylic landscapes, Corbett creates paintings inspired by time spent outdoors hiking, kayaking, and exploring the natural world. Her background in Fine Arts and Photography, along with years of experience developing her artistic practice on Vancouver Island, gives her a strong foundation for curating visual experiences that feel both local and memorable.
At the Bayside, Corbett will help guide the resort’s art program in collaboration with the McMillan Arts Centre in Parksville, strengthening the connection between the resort and the region’s creative community. The McMillan Arts Centre is a well-established local arts hub that supports exhibitions, artists, and cultural programming throughout the Oceanside area. Corbett is also a member of the McMillan Arts Centre Gallery Committee, where she works with a small team of volunteers sourcing and selecting artists for exhibitions at the Arts Centre.

This new chapter reflects Bayside Oceanfront Resort’s ongoing commitment to supporting local artists and creating an inspiring guest experience rooted in community, culture, and the West Coast landscape.
You can find Kelly painting in person at her weekly art residencies. On Tuesday she paints at the McMillan Arts Centre in Parskville from 11am to 3 pm. And on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s you can find Kelly painting in her studio upstairs at the Old School House Art Centre in Qualicum Beach from 10am to 4 pm. Visitors are welcome at both locations!

“Bringing the outside in” is at the heart of Kelly’s work.
Nanoose Bay artist Kelly Corbett creates highly detailed acrylic paintings inspired by the majestic landscapes and birdlife of British Columbia. Holding diplomas in Fine Art from UFV and from a photography academy, she brings the precision of a photographer and the sensitivity of a painter to every canvas.
An avid hiker, kayaker and camper, Kelly begins with firsthand encounters in nature. She photographs the coast, forests, water and wildlife she discovers, then transforms those moments into paintings that invite viewers to remember their own adventures—or glimpse places they have yet to reach.
Seen up close, her paintings reveal expressive brushwork and texture. From a distance, they settle into striking realism: light on water, the cool depth of a forest, the poised stillness of a coastal bird.
