ARTWARD BOUND ART EXHIBITION 2026

ARTWARD BOUND ART EXHIBITION 2026

ARTWARD BOUND ART EXHIBITION

Artward Bound is comprised of an enthusiastic group of artists who meet outdoors each Wednesday, year round, in the central areas of Vancouver Island (South Nanaimo to Port Alberni in the West, North to Bowser and beyond). We started with a small group in 2014 and now list 70 members.

Towns, Beaches, Marinas, Parks, Industrial areas, Gardens and Private Properties make up our destinations. One never knows what we will encounter while on location. We‘ve painted water buffalo in Courtenay, burned-out buildings in Parksville, “Wacky Woods” near Ship’s Point, a newborn donkey and sheep at Jolly Acres Farm in Qualicum Beach, divers at Blueback Park in Nanoose, the historic McLean Mill in Port Alberni, goofy gourds and pumpkins at Silver Meadows Farm in Errington and so much more.

In this exhibition you will be treated to our visions of these places and more.

Artists work with a variety of mediums and substrates including water colour and water colour pencils, acrylic, oil, pastel and pens on paper, canvas, wood and masonite.

We have sold works right on location and in various exhibitions.

We love and respect our island painting locations. Our motto is “Leave No Trace”. Often, a painting represents sites that no longer exist. So paintings often become records of history.

Two of our artists recently were awarded cash prizes for work done during the Route 19A Festival of the Arts “art battle” competition: Melanie Barnes for her portrait of RDN Director Stuart McLean and Graham Cook for his Landscape Painting. The winners were determined by votes from the attending public.

Enjoy the show and feel free to leave comments in our guest book. We will also have a place to cast your vote for your favourite piece in the show. This means a lot to the artists!
