Many rare birds fly under the radar…it seems that Mark is one. He is an unassuming and humble person, and yet also a brilliantly insightful writer and a gifted performer. He is often compared to Stuart McLean, in that his story songs of modern Canadian life are filled chock a block with charm, humor, pathos, and joy. Big laughs, small cries, deep feels. Meaningful music to dance your heart whistling down the lane. He is accompanied by harmonica ‘wizard’ and wit, Mick Sherlock, whose harmonica playing has been described as ‘A tornado wrapped up in a hurricane’. Like a hand in a glove, they are a perfect musical coupling…two friends playing music that matters.
"Honestly, he's unique and the closest thing we have to a musical Stuart McLean. His brilliant songs will crack a smile as easily as a tear... sometimes during the same song".
Singer-songwriter Mark Wonneck has been performing off and on in folk festivals, clubs and house concerts since the mid-1980s. Mark will be accompanied by Mick Sherlock on harmonica. Mick is a harmonicist, singer, raconteur and producer and co-creator of several musical productions including "In Spite of Ourselves", "Still Crazy After All These Years", "The Cosmic American Music Revue" and "A Dylan Story"
