New! Harvest Plein Air Adventure
with Peggy Burkosky
Monday, September 23, 10 am-1pm
Location: Silver Meadows Farm
$40 – all materials provided
Join us at Silver Meadows Farm for the last Watercolour Plein Air class of the year. Fall is in the air, and we’ll have a chance to paint the turning season. As with our summer Plein Air classes, all materials will be provided. You just need to bring hat, sunscreen, waterbottle (for you), water and container for painting, and a folding chair.
This class will focus on keeping the design simple in plein air:
• Simplify the underlying value structure into dark, mid-tone and light (Notan)
• Choose 3 primaries preferably dark in value (ie: French Ultramarine Blue, a deep yellow such as New Gamboge or Transparent Yellow and a dark red such as Alizarin Crimson
“The term NOTAN, a Japanese word meaning “dark, light”, refers to the quantity of light reflected, or the massing of tones of different values. Notan-beauty means the harmony resulting from the combination of dark and light spaces – whether coloured or not – whether in buildings, in pictures, or in nature” – Arthur Wesley Dow – Composition: Understanding Line, Notan and Colour
No previous experience necessary; Peggy will guide you through every step of the process for a painting you’ll treasure!
In case of inclement weather, you will be notified of a change in venue. Please provide your telephone number when you place your order so we can contact you.
