Born and raised in southern Alberta, Sean spent his youth and childhood camping and fishing in the mountains. Sean comes from a family of artists; his father was a hobby carver – creating Picasso and Dali’esque pieces in wood, totems and painting the walls and floors.
Sean discovered his aptitude as an artist and started painting and drawing at age 4, taking art courses in school, and at age 17 attended the Alberta College of Art. He worked in photo restoration, creating concrete mold, painting lawn ornaments, and through learning picture framing at a gallery, where he began to sell his work.
Sean spent 10 years at a bronze sculpting factory, learning how to cast in bronze, selling over 300 of his pieces. He moved to the Island in 2004, working with his brother – Sean is the original designer of the Easter Island heads that are sold locally, making the molds and casting in concrete.
In the past few years he has been focusing mainly on his painting, and is delighted to be exhibiting at the MAC.
