BC Culture Days in Oceanside

The City of Parksville is pleased to offer five exciting events to celebrate Canada Culture Days from September 23 through October 16 in our community. Culture Days are an annual nationwide celebration of arts and culture and 2022 is the tenth anniversary of this  initiative.  There is a carefully curated group of events that will be exciting, colourful, musical, visual, cultural and flat out FUN for all ages.

In collaboration with key sponsors, the McMillan Arts Centre, the Parksville Downtown Business Association, the Oceanside Community Arts Council, and the Bayside Oceanfront Resort, we will kick off Culture Days with the opening of the “TikTok© Short Doc  Film Festival” on Friday, September 23 at the McMillan Arts Centre.

Saturday, September 24, “Art Banner Crawl”, a treasure hunt with a twist, opens in the Downtown Parksville business district.

On Sunday, September 25, “Ukrainian Culture Fest” will be presented in the Seaside Auditorium in the Parksville Community Centre, 132 Jensen Avenue East featuring a Ukrainian headdress workshop followed with a performance by the Ukrainian Dance Troupe, the “Vesna Dancers”.

The month of October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will open with a super creative display of “BeDazzled Bras” in the atrium, Parksville Civic and Technology Centre, 100 Jensen Avenue on  Saturday, October 1.

And last, but certainly not least, will be the celebration of the unveiling of fifteen collaborative paintings created by an “Exquisite Corpse” artistic team with an evening gala at the Bayside Oceanfront Resort on Saturday, October 15, an evening to remember.

All events are free or by donation and everyone is welcome to join in the celebration of the arts and culture of our vibrant and diverse country, Canada, our exceptionally beautiful province, British Columbia, and our seaside home of Parksville.
