Artisan Gift Shop
The MAC: supporting and showcasing the best of the Arts and Culture in beautiful Oceanside, Vancouver Island.
We are thrilled to announce that we have been asked to facilitate the sale of a piece of art by Canadian artist Takao Tanabe. “Kootenay to the South” is an original pastel work, 18 x 24″ painted in the 1950’s. The piece has had only one owner and has been kept preserved under glass.
Starting bid is $6900. For more information or to bid on this piece please contact the MAC Office (250-248-8185).
According to Wikipedia, Tanabe was born in Prince Rupert in 1926. The son of a commercial fisherman, he was interned with other Japanese-Canadians in the British Columbia interior during World War II. The subjects of Takao Tanabe’s paintings are almost exclusively landscapes of British Columbia.
