Mosaics with Debra Hagen
Sun Nov 24, AM and PM Classes
Feel like experimenting with a medium that’s been used for thousands of years?! In this class students will have the opportunity to use the most coveted of mosaic material, Italian smalti. This glass tile comes in many different colours and is treasured for its texture and shine. It is an excellent material for creating both abstract and representational work. The substrate will be a 4” x 4” cradle board. All tools and materials will be provided.
NOTE: Debra is also teaching an Art Gems Mosaics class April 5 – 4 hours of mosaic fun!
About the Instructor: Debra’s mosaic journey began over 20 years ago. Although she has dabbled in a number of different art forms, her focus has been on mosaics for over two decades now. During that time, she has taken many classes with several internationally respected mosaic artists as well as attended a week-long mosaic class at Orsoni’s Glass Factory in Venice, Italy. Debra uses a wide range of materials in her mosaics and her pieces can include items such as dishware, pebbles, shells and found objects, as well as more traditional materials such as marble and smalti (Italian glass tiles). As a mosaic artist, Debra is very interested in increasing both the audience for and the knowledge of contemporary mosaic art. She enjoys teaching and sharing her enthusiasm for mosaics with others.
