About Art Bites:
Art Bites is a fun way to try out all different kinds of art mediums without investing a lot of time and money. Our instructors are welcoming and encourage everyone to ‘just have’ fun creating art. Try something you’ve always wondered about, or take a class with a friend or family member just for fun! Our classes run from Sept-Dec in the fall and Jan-Jun in the spring. Double Art Bites: Decoding Colour Theory with Margery Blom

Open the doors to how colours work together to affect our emotions and perceptions. Discover how to mix, match and create while unveiling the mysteries behind colour theory. It is not just mixing, but knowing how to use what you have mixed that is the secret. Accurately combining colours, using colour theory and how colours relate to each other are critical skills, not just for painters, but for designers, marketing, media production, psychologists and more!
In this four-hour class you will be guided through several colour projects that will include, identifying warm and cool tones, basic mixing, colour perspective, creating colour contrasts, uses of light and shadow and the psychology of colours.

About the Instructor:
About the Instructor: Margery Blom BFA is an oil paint artist specializing in scenes from Vancouver Island. Margery displays in galleries all over the Island and is an active member of FCA. You can find Margery as Resident Artist at the McMillan Arts Centre. Link to Margery’s website

Textures in Acrylics with Michelle Manke

This class is an exploration of different acrylic texture mediums to create different effects in acrylic and mixed media. Students can choose to create a sampler, abstract or image painting.

About the Instructor: Working mainly in mixed-media and fibre arts, Michelle Manke is a versatile and community-driven artist with a passion for sharing creativity with others. Her approach to art is centred around inclusivity, experimentation, and self-expression. She believes that art should be accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level or experience. Michelle has experience in leading art programs and classes, including creative programming in libraries, hosting art workshops for church groups, and facilitating interactive/collaborative art projects that bring people together.

Miniature Painting with Lynn Orriss

Miniature Painting: A painting of very small dimensions, anything represented on a greatly reduced scale. We will be working in watercolour and ink to explore creating a true miniature painting.

About the Instructor: Lynn Orriss’ works have been exhibited Across Canada and are included in private collections around the world. She says a day doesn’t go by where she isn’t being creative.
