About Art Foundations:

These day long workshops are geared for those who want to delve deeper into a particular art technique or medium.  Our  teacher artists have created classes that are engaging and welcoming, whether you’re following up an Art Bites class, or learning a new skill set to add to your art tool box.

Most classes are $125.  Core classes (Drawing, Composition and Colour Theory) are offered at the special price of $100.

Sep 12  – Creative Imaging: Drawing with Gordon Wilson 

Students will learn about drawing tools, materials, terminology and techniques through explorations of value, shape, line and perspective.
All materials included for this class.

About the Instructor:  Gordon Wilson enjoys taking seemingly complex art styles and making them accessible and easy to learn.  He has a degree in design and education and has taught in high schools for 15 years, as well as other venues.  Prior to teaching Gordon was a commercial designer and illustrator for 20 years working in television, publishing, and advertising

Sep 19 – Decoding Colour: Colour Theory with Margery Blom

Students will be mixing colours, using warm and cool tones to create an individual colour palette. A variety of mediums will be used for this project to help understand the fundamental science of colour. Several small painting projects will be assigned during this class that will help in the understanding of applied theory.

About the Instructor: Margery Blom  BFA is an oil paint artist specializing in scenes from Vancouver Island. Margery displays in galleries all over the Island and is an active member of FCA.  You can find Margery as Resident Artist at the McMillan Arts Centre on Thursdays.

Sep 26 – Zentangle Level 1 with Rhonda Roy

Using The Zentangle™ Method, this class will explore using elemental strokes and simple materials to create non-representational structured patterns that weave into a small completed 3.5” work of art.  Areas of focus will be the importance of the ‘process not outcome’ aspect of Zentangle,  the mindfulness element of creating art, and what you can do with Zentangle Inspired Art (ZIA).

About the Instructor: Rhonda Roy is a Zentangle artist and Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT). She discovered Zentangle in 2015, became a CZT in April 2016 and has been teaching Zentangle classes and creating Zentangle Inspired Art since then. Rhonda believes we are all born with a need and an ability to create, and that Zentangle is a great way to awaken that creative side in us all.
