Apr 3 – Ink Resist with Gordon Wilson

Ink Resist  is an exciting technique using waterproof India ink over a mask created with gouache. The painting is then washed under running water, leaving the India ink where there was no gouache and white paper where the gouache prevented the ink from touching the paper. The end result will resemble a wood block print; the fun part is not knowing exactly how it will look until the reveal!

This is a more in-depth workshop of the techniques learned in Gordon’s Feb 12 Art Bites class but previous experience is not necessary.

Cost: $100 – all materials supplied

About the Instructor: Gordon Wilson enjoys taking seemingly complex art styles and making them accessible and easy to learn.  He has a degree in design and education and has taught in high schools for 15 years, as well as other venues.  Prior to teaching Gordon was a commercial designer and illustrator for 20 years working in television, publishing, and advertising.

Apr 17 – Watercolour with Faith-Love Robertson

In this workshop, you’ll learn the versatility and spontaneity of watercolour; from realism to abstraction and all things in between.  We’ll work with light and shadow, composition, basic and then more complicated subjects.  You’ll also learn to preserve and retrieve whites to make your paintings sparkle. By the end of the workshop, you’ll be able to start a painting on your own and take it to a finished stage.

Cost: $100 – all materials supplied
