Bob Held-1Robert’s father, a sculptor, passed on the talent and appreciation of art that gave him the beginnings of a quest to create beauty in form and colour.  After studying painting and then ceramics, Robert as Head of Ceramics, became the youngest department head at Sheridan College – School of Design.  He discovered the art of glassblowing and succeeded in launching Canada’s first college level hot glass program, allowing many Canadian artists to become skilled in this medium and crowning Robert Held as the pioneer of art glass in Canada.  A collaboration between Robert Held and Bob Held-5-jpgJay MacDonell, Glass & Light will celebrate the marriage between light and glass in a stunning exhibit featuring theatrical lighting enhancing the superior work of these two glass artists.  “Glass needs light and light shows best with glass: come in from the dark and turn on the light”.
