The Fibre Art Network (FAN) is a cooperative of the Western Canadian fibre artists committed to promoting fibre as an art form. The word ‘ekphrasis’ denotes a rhetorical device whereby one medium of art is created to relate to another medium of art. Usually, ekphrastic poetry is created to respond to a piece of art. FAN has put a distinctive spin on this process by inviting twelve well-known Canadian poets to contribute a poem of their choosing. Each of the twelve poems has been interpreted by four FAN members in a wide range of styles. The Ekphrastic exhibition is a unique showcase of the collective talents of these Canadian poets and fibre artists.
Jenn’s intuitive sense of composition and colour are evident in each body of work she unveils; from serene and subtle to bold and compelling, her work is truly unique. Jenn’s style is a striking convergence of colour, texture and luxurious patinas. She allows intuition to guide her creative process and does not rely on reference photos to inspire her work. Painting is a spiritual response; the end result of living authentically and being in tune with the gift of creativity she cherishes.
